Assistant Management Accountant

Focus Group is looking for an Assistant Management Accountant to join our Financial Reporting team, supporting the delivery of accurate, timely management accounts across a regional portfolio of companies. You’ll work closely with the Management Accountant and wider finance team, gaining broad exposure to group reporting while contributing to process improvements and system efficiencies.

What you’ll do

  • Support the end-to-end preparation of monthly management accounts for a defined group of companies.
  • Assist with balance sheet reconciliations, taking ownership of reconciliation items and resolving discrepancies.
  • Analyse financial performance, including margins, overheads, and variances to budget and forecast, providing clear insight and commentary.
  • Work with the Finance Manager, Head of Financial Reporting, and wider team to deliver accurate and timely reporting.
  • Contribute to ongoing improvements in reporting processes within Microsoft Dynamics 365.
  • Support initiatives to enhance efficiency through automation and AI tools.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the business to ensure financial data is robust and reliable.

  • Confident Excel skills, with the ability to manipulate and analyse datasets.

  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight reporting deadlines.
  • Strong team player who collaborates well with colleagues across finance and the wider business.

Nice to have

  • Experience using Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365).
  • Currently studying towards, or holding, an accounting qualification (AAT, ACCA, CIMA, ACA).
