Quick Overview
Bring your consulting experience to challenges that contribute to the safety and prosperity of the UK.
We are recruiting across several consulting disciplines, including:
You could help customers clarify a strategic challenge, understand business and user needs, examine technical or security considerations, or translate complex evidence into practical recommendations. Depending on your experience and assignment, you may support work from initial analysis and business justification through to design, planning, implementation and adoption.
You will work alongside customers and multidisciplinary teams, building your expertise while contributing to work with a clear National Security purpose.
National Security in Digital Intelligence
Digital Intelligence brings together consulting, technology, cyber, data, engineering and operational expertise to support important National Security outcomes.
Our consultants help customers understand complex situations, make informed decisions and deliver sustainable change. This can mean bringing structure to an emerging problem, connecting operational and technical perspectives, examining security implications or helping an organisation move from strategy to implementation.
The work can involve ambiguity, competing priorities and incomplete information. You will be supported by colleagues from different professional backgrounds who can test your thinking, contribute specialist knowledge and help the team reach a well-evidenced outcome.
You will have the opportunity to build consulting breadth while developing specialist expertise relevant to your profession and career goals.
Your SubAccount
Consulting opportunities exist across all four National Security SubAccounts. Each addresses a different area of the mission and needs people who can understand complex environments, bring together different perspectives and turn evidence into effective action.
Your experience, professional discipline and the needs of the available work will help determine the most appropriate SubAccount.
Core Machine
Core Machine focuses on the underlying digital capabilities, platforms and services that enable wider National Security outcomes.
Consultants may help customers understand business and user needs, define requirements, examine existing services, evaluate options or plan organisational and technical change. Assignments may involve connecting strategic objectives with the processes, operating models and capabilities needed to achieve them.
Business Consultants and Business Analysts could help clarify outcomes, map processes, define requirements and develop business cases. Technical Consultants could help connect organisational needs with technical options and delivery considerations. Security Consultants could help ensure that relevant risks and security requirements are considered as capabilities develop.
This environment may suit you if you are interested in how strong digital foundations enable complex organisations and mission teams to operate effectively.
Cyber Engineering
Cyber Engineering brings together cyber and engineering expertise to help customers understand and address evolving security challenges.
Consultants help connect operational priorities, organisational needs, security considerations and technical delivery. Work may include understanding a cyber-related problem, analysing requirements, assessing risks, supporting transformation or helping stakeholders make evidence-based decisions in technically complex environments.
Business Consultants and Business Analysts could examine the organisational implications of cyber change, define needs and support implementation. Technical Consultants could help customers assess technical options, dependencies and delivery approaches. Security Consultants could contribute specialist analysis and advice to help teams understand and manage security risks.
Deep cyber expertise will be important for some opportunities, but it will not be essential for every consulting role. Requirements will reflect the specific assignment and advertised grade.
Emergent Mission & Tech
Emergent Mission & Tech considers developing mission needs and how new or evolving technologies could help address them.
Consulting assignments may begin with an emerging problem rather than a fixed requirement. You could help identify the outcome that matters, investigate user and organisational needs, test assumptions, evaluate options or turn an early concept into an actionable strategy.
Business Consultants and Business Analysts could structure the problem, gather evidence and develop requirements or investment cases. Technical Consultants could help assess the feasibility, implications and potential value of different technologies. Security Consultants could help teams consider risks and security requirements while ideas are still being explored and shaped.
This environment may suit people who are comfortable working with uncertainty, adapting their approach as evidence develops and bringing together business, operational, technical and security perspectives.
Mission Operations
Mission Operations focuses on the people, processes, services and capabilities that support effective operational outcomes.
Consultants may help customers understand how work is currently performed, identify barriers and design practical improvements. Assignments could include service and process analysis, requirements definition, organisational change, implementation support or helping teams introduce new capabilities into an operational environment.
Business Consultants and Business Analysts could examine processes, user needs and operating models. Technical Consultants could connect operational requirements with technical possibilities and constraints. Security Consultants could help ensure that change is informed by an appropriate understanding of risk and security.
The emphasis is on making change workable for the people and teams who will use it, while remaining focused on the wider mission outcome.
