Engineering Manager Industrialisation Typhoon Programmes

JOB PURPOSE
BAE Systems is the UK Government’s nominated Prime Contractor under the Government-to-Government arrangements that are in place to provide equipment, support and training to Saudi Arabia. We provide maintenance of Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) aircraft and train RSAF and Royal Saudi Naval Force personnel safely in a training environment in how to use their aircraft, equipment and weapons.
BAE Systems Saudi Arabia is committed to supporting the Saudi Arabian National Agenda including Saudisation and the training and development of Saudi National capability through the growth of the Saudi National Partner Companies thereby reinforcing Industrialisation and Partnerships.
The role will focus on leading the technical aspects of contracting and inserting Original Equipment Manufacturers capabilities into Saudi Industry for the Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul of aircraft components, ensuring the appropriate levels of engineering and maintenance governance and assurance are applied throughout.
Additionally, this role will support the expansion and improvement of existing in-Kingdom industrialised Avionic and General Systems maintenance and repair capabilities; and develop innovative technical solutions in support of new capabilities for insertion in future Salam Service Solutions.
Effective communication and internal/external stakeholder management skills are essential for this role. The active promotion of collaborative working with BAE Systems Air UK in a One Team environment will be a fundamental responsibility.
Operating within a high paced contracting environment necessitates a high degree of flexibility to meet demanding delivery schedules. The ability to rapidly innovate technical solutions without comprising compliance or performance will be a key feature of this role.
JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES
Engineering management and planning is completed for all Typhoon Capability Insertion and In-Kingdom maintenance programmes ensuring that technical deliverables satisfy Customer and Project milestones.
BAE Systems maintenance governance is consistently complied with on all Typhoon In-Kingdom programmes and full Lifecycle Management is applied.
Robust Requirements Management, Configuration Management and Change Control processes for all Typhoon Capability Insertion and In-Kingdom programmes are developed and maintained in compliance to BAESSA and Salam engineering policies.
Technical Subject Matter Expertise (SME) is provided for all IKIP related maintenance issues on the Typhoon Programme including provision of guidance and support to Saudi Industry.
Maintenance and Engineering processes and procedures are established that assure successful end-to-end execution of the engineering lifecycle from concept to First Article Inspection: e.g. Business Opportunity identification, Technical Data Pack generation, Supplier Selection, Supplier Approval, Manufacturing / Engineering Query Management; First Article Control. Processes and procedures are to comply with BAE Systems Governance whilst also ensuring localised In-Kingdom requirements are satisfied.
Prime Contractor Technical Management of the Typhoon IKIP MRO projects is provided ensuring effective co-ordination, interfacing and over-sight between the Design Organisation and Saudi Industry for all technical matters up to and including First Article Control.
Managing reporting activities within the IKIP team for the LCM reviews including supporting artefacts are produced and agreed with both the BAE Systems Saudi Arabia PMA and EA.
Prime Contractor Technical Management of the Typhoon manufacturing projects is provided ensuring effective co-ordination, interfacing and over-sight between the Design Organisation and Saudi Industry for all technical matters up to and including First Article Validation.
Manage the engineering validation of candidates submitted for Capability Insertion as part of the Salam Service Solution
Support functional engineering capability development of team members; include tools & process improvements, continuous development & training.
RECRUITMENT SPECIFICATION
Essential
Be educated to a minimum of Bachelor Engineering degree in a Technically related subject.
Extensive aerospace and defence company/industry knowledge, preferred experience managing diverse projects.
Extensive Prime Contracting and Supplier Management Experience.
Substantial in-service/through life support engineering experience including knowledge of component repair and overhaul practises and procedures.
Have domain knowledge of RSAF and RAF operating procedures.
Understanding of the IBP and financial processes, management processes, HR processes, BAE Systems.
Awareness of MOD processes.
Experience of objective decision-making regarding resources, risk management, and engineering forward strategy.
Understanding of Project Management, Managing Sub-Contractors, Procurement, Supplier Selection and Approval.
Ideally with previous knowledge of Business with KSA, the KSA culture, and working with Saudi Industry suppliers.
Ideally previous Typhoon Programme and Product knowledge.
Industrialisation and Technology transfer experience.
Experience of the development and application of engineering process, organisational design and functional governance.
Experience of managing and resolving complex engineering problems.
Thorough understanding of the application of Engineering Lifecycle Management
Have proven experience in the technical management of aircraft programmes.
Have a robust working knowledge of the design, qualification, assurance and supporting processes for aircraft and aircraft equipment.
Have a detailed understanding of the processes and policies governing the maintenance and repair of aerospace components and practical experience in their application.
Have a deep appreciation of the importance of Saudisation & Industrialisation to KSA and can develop supporting strategies to optimise the Salam solution in that regard.
Have an understanding and knowledge of aircraft standards and regulations.
