Job title: Undergraduate Defence Solutions Systems Engineer (Underwater Battlespace)

Location: Broad Oak (Hampshire). We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – however for this role you will be expected to attend your site 4-5 days per week.

Salary: £34,000 + £2,000 welcome bonus

End date: 16th June 2028

Role description

A industrial placement technical Systems Engineering role developing industry recognised skills associated with the principles of Systems Engineering that can be applied across the entire engineering development lifecycle from requirement definition through to system integration and acceptance into system support. You will utilise your introduction to Systems Engineering skills to assist with activities supporting product development of underwater battlespace system solutions in our product portfolio.

Core duties

  • Learning and applying Systems Engineering principles to support the design of systems throughout the engineering lifecycle.
  • Discerning and decomposing requirements to system and sub-system level, learning requirements management techniques.
  • Undertaking system design, using Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) techniques, to subsystem level using toolsets such as CATIA Magic or Enterprise Architect.
  • Undertaking modelling and simulation of system elements using toolsets such as MATLAB/Simulink/Python.
  • Assisting with definition and execution of system integration and testing.
  • Supporting senior engineers in the definition of Verification and Validation acceptance strategies.
  • Supporting senior engineers in liaison with internal and external stakeholders ensuring effective system solutions are realised.

Qualification requirements

As a minimum requirement you’ll need to be on track to obtain, a 2:2 Bachelor’s degree or a pass at Master’s level in the following subjects: Systems Engineering, Physics, Maths, Computer Systems Engineering, Computer Science or Aerospace / Aeronautical Engineering.

Length of contract: 12 months
