Location: Cowes (Isle of Wight)/Great Baddow (Essex). We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – however for this role you will be expected to attend your site 5 days per week.

Role description 

As an Undergraduate Software Engineer you will create cutting edge software for our hardware and be involved in the entire lifecycle of a product, from design and development to integration. You will be producing and maintaining a software design to meet a set of software requirements as well as using a software design to produce a deliverable software solution. The role will also involve testing a software solution to prove that is meets its design aims and requirements, supporting a software solution to address reported defects and/or add new functionality and maintaining a good working knowledge of Maritime Services software processes.

Core duties 

• Develop software components and features against defined requirements and technical specifications.
• Support software design activities, producing software solutions that are maintainable, reliable, and fit for purpose.
• Participate in software verification and validation activities, including unit testing, integration testing, debugging, and defect resolution.
• Contribute to software integration activities involving hardware, operating systems, middleware, and external interfaces.
• Produce and maintain software engineering artefacts, including requirements, design documentation, source code, test evidence, and technical reports.

Qualification requirements

As a minimum requirement you’ll need to be on track to obtain, a 2:2 Bachelor’s degree or a pass at Master’s level in the following subjects: Software or Computer related STEM degree.
