Title: Programme Officer – Latent Defects

Contract Type: Permanent, Full Time, 37.5 hours – 8.30am – 5pm

Salary: £39,685 per annum to £43,978 per annum (London weighted salary) or £36,063 per annum to £39,910 per annum (Regional salary), dependant on experience

Grade: Dev 7

Reporting Office: London, Stratford or Manchester, Trafford

Persona: Agile Worker: 20% - 40% of contractual hours to be worked from reporting office/working location (hybrid working)

Join our Latent Defects Team at L&Q:

As a Programme Officer, you will provide project-level support across a portfolio of complex latent-defect and remediation projects. Reporting to the Programme Manager, you will help coordinate individual projects, maintain clear records and actions, and ensure that residents and stakeholders receive regular, accurate updates.

You will work closely with Technical Inspectors, Project Managers, contractors, consultants, Commercial and Finance colleagues. You will monitor agreed actions, project milestones, risks, expenditure and outstanding information, escalating delays or concerns to the appropriate project lead.

A key part of the role will be supporting residents throughout the remediation process. This will include coordinating communications, responding to enquiries, arranging access and meetings, and ensuring that residents understand what is happening and what the next steps are.

Your impact in the role:

You will: 

  • Provide day-to-day coordination and administrative support for individual latent-defect and remediation projects.
  • Maintain project trackers, action logs, meeting records and supporting documentation.
  • Monitor agreed actions, milestones and deadlines, following up with responsible parties.
  • Coordinate resident communications, appointments, access arrangements and project updates.
  • Work with Resident Liaison Officers and operational teams to support residents affected by investigations and remedial works.
  • Arrange project meetings, prepare agendas, record decisions and monitor resulting actions.
  • Assist with project reports, governance updates and monthly performance information.
  • Maintain accurate records of project budgets, commitments, expenditure, risks and current legal or NHBC positions.
  • Liaise with contractors, consultants and internal teams to obtain information and resolve routine coordination issues.
  • Identify delays, stalled actions and emerging concerns and escalate them to the Programme Manager or relevant project lead.

What you'll bring:

  • Strong project coordination and organisational skills.
  • Experience of supporting multiple projects, cases or workstreams simultaneously.
  • Experience of communicating with residents or customers, including in sensitive or challenging circumstances.
  • The ability to provide clear, accurate and timely written and verbal updates.
  • Strong record-keeping and data-management skills.
  • Confidence using Excel, SharePoint, Microsoft Lists and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • The ability to monitor actions and deadlines and follow up constructively with colleagues, contractors and consultants.
  • A collaborative approach and the ability to work with technical, commercial and operational teams.
  • Experience within housing, construction, property management or a related environment would be desirable.
