Role description 

An Energetics Materials Scientist is required to support a broad range of activities within the BAE Systems Land UK business. You will support new technology development projects for future energetic materials and support product and process development in small, medium and high volume environments. Working as part of the Engineering and Technology teams, the role will ensure that our products meet exacting quality and performance requirements. This role involves assisting with the Engineering and Technology Teams in the development of new energetic materials and processes, as well as ensuring current materials and process are maintained. You will assist Energetic Material/Process subject matter experts in providing energetic material advice and support.
 
Core duties  

• Assisting the Engineering and Technology Teams in the development of new energetic materials and process.
• Provide assistance to Energetic Material/Process subject matter experts in energetic material advice and support.
• Good practical skills in a laboratory or engineering environment.
• Good communication and written skills to present information.
• Ability to work within a close-knit team and to stringent safety processes.

The Land Team 

Equipping the British Armed Forces and international customers with a range of munitions products, from small arms ammunition through to heavy artillery, tank ammunition, warheads, and payloads with projects including the Challenger 3 Battle Tank.

Qualification requirements

As a minimum requirement you’ll need to be on track to obtain, a 2:2 Bachelor’s degree or a pass at Master’s level in the following subjects: Chemistry, Physics or Chemical Engineering.
