Job title: Graduate Land Modelling and Simulation Engineer

Location: Glascoed (Clwyd). We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – however for this role you will be expected to attend your site 3-5 days per week.

Salary: £34,000 Per Annum + £2,000 Welcome Bonus

Role description 

As a Graduate Modelling & Simulation Engineer, you will support the development, maintenance and application of numerical models and simulations across a diverse range of engineering disciplines. Working as part of a specialist team, you will contribute to the analysis and assessment of products and processes using a variety of modelling techniques to support product development, performance evaluation and technical decision-making.
The role provides an exciting opportunity to develop skills across multiple engineering domains, including structural analysis, fluid dynamics, manufacturing process modelling and ballistic simulations, while working alongside experienced engineers and technical specialists.

Core duties 

  • Supporting the development, maintenance and application of modelling and simulation tools used across a range of engineering programmes.
  • Creating and utilising models to assess product and process performance at both system and sub-system levels.  
  • Conducting static and dynamic structural assessments to support product design, qualification and performance investigations.
  • Supporting Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) studies relating to product performance and manufacturing processes.
  • Assisting with the development and application of internal and external ballistic models.
  • Analysing simulation results and presenting findings in clear technical reports and presentations.
  • Supporting model validation and verification activities using test and trial data.

The Land Team 

Equipping the British Armed Forces and international customers with a range of munitions products, from small arms ammunition through to heavy artillery, tank ammunition, warheads, and payloads with projects including the Challenger 3 Battle Tank.

Qualification requirements

As a minimum requirement you must have obtained, or be predicted to obtain, a 2:2 Bachelor’s degree or a pass at Master’s level in the following subjects: Engineering, Mathematics or Physics.
