Typhoon Capability Integration Manager

JOB PURPOSE
BAE Systems is the UK Government’s nominated Prime Contractor under the Government-to-Government arrangements that are in place to provide equipment, support and training to Saudi Arabia. We provide maintenance of Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) aircraft and train RSAF and Royal Saudi Naval Force personnel safely in a training environment in how to use their aircraft, equipment and weapons.

The role consists of;
• Leading and coordinating the engineering integration and Entry-Into-Service (EIS) activity for Typhoon capability changes, ensuring new or modified capability is safe, supportable, configuration-control, operationally ready and capable of successful handover into the Salam support environment at KFdAB (Taif).
• Liaising with senior customer, internal BAE Systems and partner-company stakeholders on engineering, supportability and readiness issues associated with capability deployment and Entry-Into-Service (EIS).
• Representing BAE Systems Saudi Arabia at customer and internal change, readiness and acceptance forums in support of Typhoon capability insertion and deployment.
• Representing BAE Systems Saudi Arabia in relevant release, acceptance and readiness forums to support the safe and effective introduction of capability into service.
• Coordinating Capability Insertion activity with safety, engineering and support stakeholders to ensure operational safety, risk controls and supporting assurance evidence are maintained throughout deployment.
• Ensuring Support Requirements are captured, assessed and coordinated through engineering design and review process so that new or modified capability is supportable within the Salam Support environment.
• Leading the engineering integration and handover of approved capability changes into the operational service and in-service support environment.
• Ensuring support solution readiness and cross-functional closure of actions relating
to safety, supportability, training, technical information, equipment, logistics and operational deployment.
JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Develop and maintain effective relationships with the Customer, internal BAE Systems and partner-company stakeholders to support the planning, integration and deployment of cost-effective future capability into the fleet.
• Manage the end-to-end engineering integration activity for capability insertion target events.
o Capture, initiate and progress capability insertion activity through the relevant engineering, readiness and governance processes.
o Lead or support maturity, readiness and candidate selection reviews for proposed capability changes, ensuring engineering and support impacts are understood and communicated.
o Support capability insertion and change activity across the applicable Salam, customer and partner-company programmes and contracts.
• Lead and coordinate engineering review and readiness assurance activity for selected capability changes as they progress through the applicable maturity and governance process.
• Support progression of capability changes through the agreed engineering, readiness, harmonisation and handover stages.
• Manage the Typhoon Operational Readiness Review (ORR) process for new capability deployment at KFdAB (Taif), ensuring readiness evidence is coordinated and closure actions are managed to completion.
• Ensure supportability, safety, training, technical information, equipment, logistics and operational impacts are identified, assessed and addressed for each capability change.
• Coordinate and support hazard identification, safety review and assurance activity associated with capability insertion and Entry-Into-Service.
• Support the preparation and review of customer change proposal documentation and associated readiness evidence.
• Support other customer Operational Readiness Reviews (ORRs), as required.
• Coordinate engineering support to Flight & Ground Trials, qualification and capability acceptance activity.
RECRUITMENT SPECIFICATION
Essential
• Demonstrated experience of managing the Engineering Life Cycle Review process. The individual will be required to demonstrate the ability to manage interfaces across multiple boundaries.
• Relevant Engineering Degree (Charter Status desirable) or a recognised qualification to HNC/HND level in a relevant technical discipline.
• Extensive relevant work experience of which a part should be from the aeronautical industry in an appropriate position.
• Experience of dealing with customers and suppliers.
• Demonstrated engineering management experience in a relevant environment.
• High level engineering problem solving skills.
• Substantial political and cultural awareness in areas relating to BAE Systems business.
• Strong networking and communication skills used at all levels within an organisation.
• Experience in aircraft support and safety requirements.
Desirable
• Understanding of Engineering, Quality & Safety Management Systems, export controls, commercial and procurement processes.
• Experience and knowledge of the Engineering Life Cycle (ELC) and wider Company governance processes.
• Familiarity with IKIP arrangements (approved repair agents) and integration with CAO/AMO outputs.
• Typhoon Capability Development experience.
• Previous experience of working with the Royal Air Force (RAF) and the Customer.
• Significant knowledge and network base across the BAESYSTEMS Saudi Arabia organisation and the wider UK and European Partner Company organisation.
