Role Description:

As an Instructional Designer within our Hunter Class Frigate program, you will design and develop learning solutions, systems, products and services to meet the needs of the program and our customer. Whilst working closely with subject matter experts, you will be responsible to deliver regulatory and contractually compliant learning solutions. The role offers you an opportunity to develop innovative training solutions from eLearning to extended reality solutions related to modern Maritime platforms.

Core Duties:

  • Collaborate with SMEs and support the Training Team to Design, develop, review and evaluate learning solutions and training materials.
  • Apply instructional design frameworks and methodologies, including ADDIE and the Systems Approach to Defence Learning (SADL), while incorporating human-centred design principles.
  • Conduct compliance reviews and map content to ensure training products align with training analysis outcomes, approved design standards, and governance requirements.
  • Develop and validate e-learning resources through user testing and evaluation activities.
  • Support the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of Training Systems team guides, work instructions, and process documentation, ensuring alignment with governance framework.
  • Produce accurate and timely Training Systems updates to support training reporting.

Key Essentials:

  • Proven experience in an Instructional Design capacity
  • Experience in application of ADDIE and SADL frameworks to training solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience with training development authoring tools and learning management systems is essential.
  • Demonstrated advanced ability to use MS Office and other presentation / training authoring products.
  • Working background in a defence related industry is desirable

Qualifications

  • Degree in Education or Training related field (desirable) or
  • Diploma in Vocational Education and Training (desirable) or
  • Cert IV in Training and Assessment
  • Diploma of Training Design & Development or equivalent is desirable
