About the role:
We are currently seeking a Hairdressing & Barbering Technician to join our Hair & Beauty department at The Bedford College Group.
As a Hairdressing & Barbering Technician, you play an important role in the success of our students through:
·Technical Support & Salon Operations– Provides technical support to lecturers and learners within salon environments, preparing equipment and work areas, maintaining stock levels, and ensuring resources are available to support effective teaching and learning.
·Stock Management & Equipment Maintenance– Manages the security, monitoring and maintenance of salon equipment and consumables, including ordering stock, processing purchases, servicing equipment and controlling expenditure against budgets.
·Health, Safety & Compliance– Maintains safe, clean and compliant salon environments through risk and COSHH assessments, health & safety monitoring, equipment checks and adherence to relevant regulations and procedures.
·Learner Support & Customer Service– Supports learners to achieve their qualifications, provides guidance and assistance where required, manages student conduct in line with college procedures and supports reception duties when needed.
·Professional Responsibilities & Safeguarding– Works collaboratively with colleagues to maintain high operational standards while promoting safeguarding, equality, diversity, inclusion, health & safety and ongoing professional development.
About you:
·Qualifications & Industry Knowledge – Experience within the Hair and/or Beauty industry, with willingness to achieve required English, Maths and First Aid qualifications, and strong knowledge of current treatments, practices and health & safety procedures.
·Technical & Operational Skills – Skilled in maintaining, preparing and repairing salon equipment, managing stock inventories, checking equipment for safe use and supporting the efficient operation of salon environments.
·Customer Service & Student Support – Able to provide a high-quality experience for students and customers, creating a welcoming and supportive environment while communicating professionally and effectively in person, by telephone and in writing.
·Professional Skills & Teamwork – Self-motivated, reliable and organised, with the ability to work independently or collaboratively, follow instructions, use IT effectively and contribute positively to team objectives.
·Safeguarding & Flexibility – Committed to safeguarding, equality, diversity and continuous professional development, with a flexible approach to working hours and locations, strong health & safety awareness and a full driving licence.
