Role Description

We are seeking a talented and motivated Software Engineer to join our team supporting the Aircraft Sustainment based in Williamtown NSW. Reporting to the Software Engineering Lead, you will play a key role in the analysis, design, development, maintenance, and support of mission-critical software systems.

This role offers the opportunity to work within a collaborative environment, contributing to the ongoing reliability, performance, and enhancement of solutions. You will work closely with internal teams and customer stakeholders to investigate issues, implement improvements, and deliver high-quality software outcomes.

Core Duties:

  • Collaborate with software engineers and project teams to design, develop, test, and maintain software solutions using technologies such as C#, Python, and JavaScript.
  • Contribute to the delivery of high-quality software by following established engineering standards, development practices, and project plans.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand requirements, resolve technical issues, and support successful project outcomes.
  • Participate in code reviews, troubleshooting, debugging, and continuous improvement activities to enhance system performance and reliability.
  • Support and contribute to the ongoing improvement of software development processes, tools, and engineering practices.
  • Share knowledge and collaborate effectively with team members, while continuously developing technical skills and industry knowledge.
  • Assist in identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, and maintainability across software applications and development workflows.

About YOU

  • Tertiary qualification in technology, engineering or similar is required
  • Professional experience in software development, with hands-on coding expertise in C#, Python, and JavaScript.
  • Experience developing, testing, and maintaining software applications throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Experience preparing and maintaining technical documentation, including Software Requirements Specifications (SRS), functional and technical design documents, test plans, test cases, and test reports.
  • Understanding of software development methodologies, coding standards, quality assurance practices, and version control tools.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues effectively.
  • Database experience is advantageous, particularly Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server
  • Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.
  • A proactive and continuous improvement mindset, with a willingness to learn new technologies and contribute to process and product enhancements.
  • Defence security clearance ideal or eligibility to obtain NV1
