Role: Lecturer – Motor Vehicle

Location: Tresham College – Corby and Wellingborough Campus

Salary/Benefits: Salary is between £33,048 and £38,169 per annum (Pro-Rata) DOE and Qualifications, 45 days annual (Pro-Rata) leave plus Bank holidays, Teacher’s Pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses. Note – Salary and annual leave entitlement is for that of a Qualified Lecturer.

Hours/Weeks: 37 hours per week – 52 weeks per year

Contract Type: Permanent – Part Time

About the role:

We are currently seeking a Lecturer in Motor Vehicle to join our Motor Vehicle department at The Bedford College Group.

As a Lecturer, you play an important role in the success of our students through:

  • Teaching & Curriculum Delivery - Plan and deliver high-quality teaching in light vehicle maintenance and repair across a range of courses and levels, using engaging and up-to-date learning materials.
  • Assessment & Student Progress - Assess, verify, and monitor student work in line with awarding body standards, providing feedback and interventions to ensure achievement and progression.
  • Student Support & Development - Guide and support learners through tutorials and vocational opportunities, promoting positive behaviour and helping them reach their full potential.
  • Curriculum Innovation & Industry Engagement - Contribute to curriculum development, maintain current industry knowledge, and enhance learning through employer links, work experience, and enrichment activities.
  • Quality, Administration & Compliance - Maintain accurate records, meet administrative and quality requirements (including IQA), support marketing activities, and uphold safeguarding, EDI, and health & safety standards.

About you:

  • Qualifications & Professional Development - Level 3 relevant qualification with willingness to achieve teaching and assessor/verifier qualifications, alongside GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent).
  • Industry Knowledge & Inclusive Practice - Up-to-date subject knowledge with experience working with diverse groups and a strong understanding of equality and diversity in practice.
  • Communication & Interpersonal Skills - Strong interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to build positive relationships and create a supportive learning environment.
  • Organisation & Performance - Highly organised with the ability to meet deadlines, maintain high standards of performance, and work in line with organisational values.
  • Professionalism & Flexibility - Committed to safeguarding, health & safety, and continuous development, with flexibility to work across sites and maintain appropriate professional boundaries.

Tresham College has three main sites in Corby, Kettering and Wellingborough, each with impressive modern buildings.  Across our sites we offer a range of subjects including art & design, construction, engineering, motor vehicle, hairdressing and beauty therapy and more in support of our local communities.
