Job Title: Engineering Manager – Test and Commissioning

Salary: $113,600 – $151,400
What you’ll be doing:
Lead the in-country Test & Trials team, ensuring delivery aligns with programme objectives across the Purchaser’s premises and Shipyard for Ships 1–3
Partner with Irving Shipbuilding Incorporated (ISI) to establish and govern the Test & Trials framework, overseeing the planning and execution of commissioning and trials activities
Provide oversight and assurance for Test Readiness Reviews (TRRs), senior test forums, and key commissioning milestones, ensuring operational readiness and compliance
Oversee platform-to-combat system integration, managing interface risks, technical issues, and performance acceptance in collaboration with the Combat System Integrator
Provide governance and technical assurance for critical commissioning activities, ensuring compliance with BAE standards, safety requirements, and programme expectations
Collaborate with customers, suppliers, and shipyard stakeholders to resolve issues, share lessons learned, and drive successful project delivery
Lead, develop, and manage the in-country commissioning team, including performance, resource planning, capability development, and compliance with organisational processes
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation, or actively working toward obtaining licensure
Extensive knowledge of the Marine and Shipbuilding environment
Experience in undertaking harbour and sea-going Platform System trials
Desirable:
Understanding of Classification Society and Naval Authority requirements

The Platform Commissioning team:
As the in-country Commissioning Manager, you’ll join a small, highly skilled team supporting the River Class Destroyer Program. Reporting to the UK-based Senior Commissioning Manager, you’ll play a key role in providing strategic guidance and technical oversight to Irving Shipbuilding Incorporated’s (ISI) Test & Trials team, helping ensure platform commissioning activities are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with contractual, regulatory, and customer requirements.
Working closely with the Senior Commissioning Manager, you’ll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and key stakeholders to support commissioning strategy, manage technical and operational risks, and provide assurance for critical commissioning milestones—from ship launch through harbour and sea trials. This role offers the opportunity to apply expertise gained on the Type 26 program while contributing to the successful delivery of a world-class naval capability.
