Role: Associate Lecturer – AAT

Location: Central Bedfordshire College – Dunstable Kingsway Campus

Salary/Benefits: Salary is £21.50 per hour

Hours/Weeks: 10 hours per week – Tuesday and Wednesday evenings 18.00 to 21.00

Contract Type: Sessional – Hourly Paid

About the role:

We are currently seeking an Associate Lecturer in AAT to join our Finance department at The Bedford College Group.

As an Associate Lecturer, you play an important role in the success of our students through:

  • Teaching & Learning Delivery - Plan and deliver high-quality AAT Level 1 and 2 lessons, using differentiated and engaging approaches to support a range of learners and embed English, Maths, and digital skills.
  • Assessment & Quality Assurance - Assess learner work to awarding body standards, maintain accurate records, provide constructive feedback, and participate in verification and quality processes.
  • Learner Support & Progress - Monitor attendance, behaviour, and progress, providing academic and pastoral support to help learners achieve targets and progress into further study or employment.
  • Curriculum Development & Industry Relevance - Contribute to programme development, ensure content reflects industry practice, and enhance learning through employer engagement and enrichment activities.
  • Collaboration & Compliance - Work with colleagues, support recruitment events, and ensure compliance with safeguarding, EDI, health & safety, and college policies while contributing to continuous improvement.

About you:

  • Qualifications & Professional Expertise - AAT Level 4 (or equivalent), degree in Accounting/Finance/Business, and a recognised teaching qualification, with strong knowledge of accounting principles and AAT programmes.
  • Industry & Training Experience - Practical experience in accounting, finance, or bookkeeping, with experience delivering or supporting training and developing learner understanding.
  • Communication & Learner Support Skills - Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate, guide, and support learners to achieve success and progression.
  • Organisation & Technical Skills - Well-organised with effective administrative and IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and maintaining accurate records.
  • Professionalism & Continuous Development - Learner-focused, reliable, and adaptable, with a commitment to safeguarding, high standards, and ongoing professional and personal development.

What is an Associate?

Associates work on a short-term basis as assigned. They teach or provide support services, and they work with and are supported by core staff. As an Associate you will be issued with an Associate Agreement, under this Agreement period you will be eligible to work on assignments offered to you.
