Role:Hairdressing & Barbering Teacher

Location: Central Bedfordshire College

Salary/Benefits: Salary is between £33,048 and £38,169 per annum DOE and Qualifications, 45 days annual leave plus Bank holidays,Teacher’s Pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses. Note – Salary and annual leave entitlement is for that of a Qualified Lecturer.

Hours/Weeks:18.5 Hours | 52 Weeks Per Year

Contract Type:Permanent – Full Time

About the role:

We are currently seeking a Hairdressing & Barbering Teacher to join our Hair &Beauty Therapy department at The Bedford College Group.

As a Teacher in Hairdressing & Barbering, you play an important role in the success of our students through:

  • Teaching & Learning Delivery – Deliver high-quality teaching across Beauty Therapy programmes, adapting to individual learner needs and creating engaging, inclusive learning experiences
  • Assessment & Progress Tracking – Assess, verify and monitor student work in line with awarding body standards, ensuring deadlines are met and progress is effectively recorded and actioned
  • Quality & Curriculum Development – Contribute to internal verification and quality processes, develop innovative learning materials and maintain up-to-date industry knowledge through CPD
  • Student Support & Behaviour Management – Support learners to achieve their potential, promote positive behaviour and effectively coordinate with support staff to enhance the learning experience
  • Professional Responsibilities & Compliance – Manage administrative tasks, communicate progress and concerns, and uphold safeguarding, equality, health & safety and professional development requirements

About you:

·Qualifications & Professional Development – Level 3 Beauty Therapy qualification with assessor/IQA credentials (or willingness to achieve), GCSE Maths & English, and commitment to CPD, safeguarding and EDI training

·Industry Knowledge & Teaching Experience – Strong background in the beauty industry with recent teaching and assessment experience in FE, alongside knowledge of awarding bodies such as City & Guilds and current sector developments

·Teaching & Learner Engagement Skills – Proven ability to plan and deliver effective lessons, adapt to diverse learners, manage behaviour and create inclusive, supportive and engaging learning environments

·Organisation & Communication Skills – Highly organised with strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to track progress, meet deadlines and work collaboratively with teams and employers

·Professional Standards & Flexibility – Committed to safeguarding, equality and professionalism, with a flexible approach to work, willingness to travel, maintain boundaries and continually update skills and knowledge
