JOB PURPOSE
BAE Systems is the UK Government’s nominated Prime Contractor under the Government-to-Government arrangements that are in place to provide equipment, support and training to Saudi Arabia. We provide maintenance of Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) aircraft and train RSAF and Royal Saudi Naval Force personnel safely in a training environment in how to use their aircraft, equipment and weapons.

The BAE Systems Saudi Arabia, Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Superintendent located at King Abdulaziz Air Base, Dhahran, is primarily responsible and reports to the Principle NDT Lead. The main objective is to support the flying programme at KAAB, responsible for the management and oversight of NDT tasks on both the RSAF operational fleet and aircraft within the Tornado Support Service.
Ensuring adequate resources and competently authorised personnel are available in sufficient quantities to meet all scheduled and non-scheduled work in a controlled and well managed manner and in accordance with all applicable technical data. Supporting the elements of the Safety Management System and Quality system at KAAB.
JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES
Have the skills and knowledge to set up and standardise equipment, process parts, interpret and evaluate for acceptance or rejection, and document results.
Be thoroughly familiar with the scope and limitations of the technique/method.
Have the skills and knowledge to conduct system performance checks in accordance with the applicable process standard.
Be capable of providing the necessary guidance and/or supervision to trainees, Level 1 and Level 2 Limited.
Be familiar with the codes, standards, and other contractual documents that control the method as used by the employer.
Developing work instructions from approved general procedures if the examination of the individual is covering establishing work instruction. Such work instructions shall require final approval by the Responsible Level 3 or Level 3 staff nominated by the Responsible Level 3.
Have a basic knowledge of relevant product manufacturing and inspection technology.
Have a basic knowledge of aircraft maintenance.
With instruction, direction and guidance from the Principal NDT Lead, be able to plan manpower/shift allocation to meet continually changing maintenance priorities and tasks.
Must interpret / evaluate immediate task demand and prioritise work activities in respect of available personnel, support equipment, technical manuals, tools, manpower and spare parts.
Responsible for supporting the RSAF Flying Programme and TMSC Maintenance Programme by means of ensuring the shift organisation can meet requirements and for maintaining close liaison with the Maintenance Operations Centre.
Have an understanding and courage to implement HR Policies, taking action to address any poor performance or disciplinary matters.
The Post Holder is responsible for compliance with the MOE, processes and procedures for maintenance activities within KAAB facilities which include the following, issues are to be brought to the attention of the Line Manager to address:
NDT Facilities appropriate to the planned work.
Office accommodation appropriate to the management of the planned work.
A working environment appropriate to the tasks being undertaken.
Storage facilities for tools, equipment and materials.
Sufficient competent personnel to plan, perform, supervise, inspect and certify the work being performed.
Tools, equipment and materials to perform the planned work.
All necessary approved data.
Notifying Line Management when deficiencies emerge which require attention.
Supporting the Quality Management System through its application in the workplace and through any actions taken to address findings.
Ensures accurate demands for replacement components/parts are placed as soon as possible.
Ascertains whether serviceable and calibrated test equipment is available for the planned tasks, and if not informs the Principal NDT Lead.
The Post Holder is to immediately inform their Senior Management of any findings which could pose an airworthiness threat for further escalation.
The Post Holder is responsible for:
Raising any local Engineering Assistance Disposition Records.
Raising Safety Occurrence Report Transmittals.
Quality Auditing.
The post holder will be expected to fulfil additional managerial responsibilities in the case of deputising for the Principal NDT Lead in times of absence.
The post holder will be expected to establish and maintain positive relations with both the RSAF and other internal maintenance functions within TMSC, ensuring integrity of information is always dispatched.
RECRUITMENT SPECIFICATION
Essential
Have extensive post qualification practical maintenance experience within operational flying aircraft environment supported by formal recorded workplace applied related training OR consistent experience on the same aircraft type.
Demonstrate knowledge / understanding of aircraft maintenance and engineering.
Understanding and application of human factors, error management, health & safety and proactive hazard analysis, appropriate to the role.
Qualifications: National civilian / military equivalent recognised aircraft maintenance traineeship / apprenticeship
Holds Level 2 Certification in the following NDI Methods:- PT,MT,ET,UT & RT to EN4179 Standards or internationally recognised equivalent.
Experience across all areas of on-wing support activities.
Experience of leading engineering and maintenance teams and resolving complex engineering and maintenance problems.
Experience of the development and application of engineering and maintenance processes.
Valid Saudi Council of Engineering Membership status.
Desirable
Broad BAESSA industry knowledge.
An understanding of the RSAF Tornado Operation and working practices.
Have experienced working knowledge of EASA Part 145 & Part M.
Working knowledge of Q-pulse, IMS and an understanding of M&CA processes.
Completion of a recognised trade apprenticeship.
Completion of a recognised supervisory management course.
Understanding of Personnel authorisations and limitations.
Extensive experienced working knowledge of EASA / M&CA Part 145.
