Role: Associate Lecturer – Pre-Employment Training

Location: Northamptonshire - Online, Tresham College and Learning Centres

Salary/Benefits: Salary is £20.50 per hour

Hours/Weeks: Various, up to 20 hours per week

Contract Type: Sessional – Hourly Paid

About the role:

We are currently seeking an Associate Lecturer in Pre-Employment Training to join our Adult and Community Learning and ESOL department at The Bedford College Group.

As an Associate Lecturer, you play an important role in the success of our students through:

  • Teaching, Learning & Student Achievement – Deliver engaging, high‑quality teaching across a range of programmes and levels, supporting students to achieve success and reach their full potential.
  • Curriculum Planning & Innovation – Develop and implement up‑to‑date schemes of work and creative learning materials, contributing to innovative teaching and curriculum development.
  • Assessment, Progress & Quality Assurance – Assess learner work to awarding‑body standards, monitor progress, maintain accurate records and meet deadlines within quality assurance processes.
  • Student Support, Behaviour & Inclusion – Support individual learner needs, promote positive behaviour, create inclusive learning environments and ensure health & safety standards are met.
  • Professional Practice & College Contribution – Complete administrative duties accurately, collaborate within teams, and uphold safeguarding, equality, health & safety and continuous professional development requirements.

About you:

  • Qualifications & Teaching Capability – Level 3 qualification with GCSE English and maths, alongside a Level 3 Award in Education and Training (PTLLS), demonstrating strong capability in delivering structured learning.
  • Training, Delivery & Learner Engagement – Proven experience delivering and assessing training to young people and adults, with the ability to engage groups and support high‑quality learning outcomes.
  • Professional Skills, Organisation & IT – Strong organisational and communication skills, proficient in Microsoft Office, able to meet deadlines and maintain high‑quality standards in all aspects of work.
  • Collaboration, Inclusion & College Values – Effective team contributor with experience working across diverse groups, promoting equality and diversity, and aligned with College values of student focus, high performance and integrity.
  • Professional Practice, Safeguarding & Flexibility – Committed to safeguarding, health & safety and CPD, maintaining professional boundaries, flexible to work across locations, and dedicated to continuous improvement.

What is an Associate?

Associates work on a short-term basis as assigned. They teach or provide support services, and they work with and are supported by core staff. As an Associate you will be issued with an Associate Agreement, under this Agreement period you will be eligible to work on assignments offered to you.
