Role: Lecturer – Business

Location: Tresham College – Kettering, Corby and Wellingborough Campuses

Salary/Benefits: Salary is between £33,048 and £38,169 per annum DOE and Qualifications, 45 days annual leave plus Bank holidays, Teacher’s Pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses. Note – Salary and annual leave entitlement is for that of a Qualified Lecturer.

Hours/Weeks: 37 hours per week – 52 weeks per year

Contract Type: Permanent – Full Time

About the role:

We are currently seeking a Lecturer in Business to join our Business department at The Bedford College Group.

As a Lecturer, you play an important role in the success of our students through:

  • Business Teaching & Learner Achievement – Deliver high‑quality teaching across Business programmes (BTEC Levels 2–3 and T Levels), supporting learners to achieve strong outcomes and progress successfully.
  • Curriculum Planning & Delivery – Plan and deliver engaging schemes of work and learning resources aligned to awarding body requirements, meeting diverse learner needs and promoting inclusive practice.
  • Assessment, Progress & Quality Assurance – Assess and verify learner work, monitor progress against targets, maintain accurate records and contribute to internal verification and quality processes.
  • Learner Support, Engagement & Progression – Provide academic tutoring, pastoral support and guidance, communicate with parents/carers, and enhance learning through employer links, trips and enrichment opportunities.
  • Professional Practice & College Contribution – Complete administrative duties, contribute to curriculum development and marketing activities, and uphold safeguarding, EDI, health & safety and college standards.

About you:

  • Qualifications & Subject Expertise – Degree in a Business‑related subject, with PGCE/Cert Ed (or willingness to achieve), GCSE English and maths, and up‑to‑date knowledge of Business education and sector developments.
  • Teaching, Assessment & Awarding Body Knowledge – Proven experience teaching and assessing in FE across a range of programmes (e.g. BTEC, T Level, NCFE, City & Guilds), with strong understanding of standards and student achievement.
  • Curriculum Delivery & Learner Progression – Skilled in planning schemes of work, monitoring learner progress, adapting teaching for diverse learners and supporting successful outcomes across all levels.
  • Professional Skills, Organisation & Collaboration – Strong organisational, interpersonal and communication skills, able to meet deadlines, work collaboratively and contribute positively to team and departmental objectives.
  • Values, Safeguarding & Flexibility – Committed to safeguarding, equality, College values and professional standards, with flexibility to work across sites, participate in wider activities and engage in continuous professional development.

Tresham College has three main sites in Corby, Kettering and Wellingborough, each with impressive modern buildings.  Across our sites we offer a range of subjects including art & design, construction, engineering, motor vehicle, hairdressing and beauty therapy and more in support of our local communities.
