Role: Teacher – Business and Economics

Location: The Corby Sixth Form

Salary/Benefits: Salary is between £33,048 and £38,169 per annum DOE and Qualifications, 45 days annual leave plus Bank holidays, Teacher’s Pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses. Note – Salary and annual leave entitlement is for that of a Qualified Lecturer.

Hours/Weeks: 37 hours per week – 52 weeks per year

Contract Type: Permanent – Full Time

About the role:

We are currently seeking a Teacher of Business and Economics to join our Sixth Forms department at The Bedford College Group.

As a Teacher, you play an important role in the success of our students through:

  • Teaching & Learning Delivery – Deliver engaging, high‑quality lessons that develop students’ knowledge, skills and understanding, motivating learners to reach their full potential.
  • Assessment, Progress & Achievement – Assess learner progress effectively, provide timely feedback, maintain accurate records and contribute to strong retention and success outcomes.
  • Curriculum & Enrichment Contribution – Contribute proactively to Sixth Form curriculum development, extracurricular activities and initiatives that enhance the overall student experience.
  • Student Engagement & Parental Communication – Produce progress reports, participate in parents’ evenings and promote the Sixth Form at open events and recruitment activities.
  • Professional Practice & College Responsibilities – Uphold safeguarding, EDI and health & safety standards, engage in CPD, and support college‑wide activities including exams, events and cross‑campus collaboration.

About you:

  • Qualifications & Teaching Credentials – Degree in a relevant subject with a Certificate in Education (or equivalent), GCSE English and maths, and current experience teaching A Levels in a Sixth Form or FE setting.
  • Teaching Excellence & Learner Outcomes – Proven record of high‑quality teaching with up‑to‑date subject knowledge, effective use of ILT, and a strong focus on outstanding student progress and success.
  • Student Experience & Inclusive Practice – Ability to create a welcoming, supportive environment for diverse learners, promote equality and diversity, and uphold high expectations of students and staff.
  • Professional Skills & Collaboration – Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to work flexibly, manage pressure, meet deadlines, build professional relationships and contribute positively as a team member.
  • Values, Safeguarding & Continuous Improvement – Committed to Sixth Form and College values, safeguarding and health & safety, maintaining professional boundaries, and continuously developing skills and practice across College locations.

The Corby Sixth Form offers a wide range of subjects and courses, including A-level subjects like maths, English Literature, sciences, humanities, and languages, as well as Diploma courses in areas like business, health & social care, and more.
