Job Description
We’re looking for an additional Veterinary Surgeon to join The Vet Clinic at Birmingham Dogs Home, independent, charity-owned clinic.
You will be working with dedicated team of veterinary professionals, in collaboration with our rehoming centre to care for Birmingham Dogs Home’s animals. You will also be providing a high-quality, first opinion service to private owners and their pets in our independent, charity-owned clinic. (N.B. All profits from the vet clinic go back to support the charity’s work).
We can provide:
* A supportive, welcoming team to work with
* A purpose-built Vet Clinic equipped with digital x-ray equipment and ultrasound, a separate dental room (with digital dental x-ray equipment), in-house laboratory area, separate dog and cat wards.
* Salary of up to £75,000 FTE depending on experience
* Full-time position (40 hours per week on average over 4 days) we can look at alternative requirements should a strong candidate have a particular need to work certain hours
* No OOH or on-call
* 4-day week with 1 in 3 Saturday mornings
* Pension & benefits package
* £1500 CPD budget, 4 days per annum (pro-rata based 1 FTE)
* Paid RVCS, VDS fees, plus membership of BVA, BSAVA or an equivalent organisation
* Generous annual leave allowance
Work location: The Vet Clinic is located at our Birmingham Centre in Catherine-de-Barnes, Solihull, B92 0DJ. We have a second Rehoming Centre in Coven, Wolverhampton which is visited by the team twice a week (morning only). The Vet appointed will be expected to attend our Wolverhampton Centre on a shared rota.
We are looking for a vet who
* Has a minimum of 3 years clinical experience
* Is able to work sole charge at times
* Is customer centric
* Confident and enjoys undertaking the full range of first opinion surgical procedures & consulting
* Has an appreciation or experience of working in a charity environment
* Enjoys being part of a happy, positive, hard-working team
* Always remains polite, calm and respectful of colleagues, clients and their patients
