JOB PURPOSE
BAE Systems is the UK Government’s nominated Prime Contractor under the Government-to-Government arrangements that are in place to provide equipment, support and training to Saudi Arabia. We provide maintenance of Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) aircraft and train RSAF and Royal Saudi Naval Force personnel safely in a training environment in how to use their aircraft, equipment and weapons.

The role reports to the Taif based Senior Leadership Team through the Head of Business Operations and will support the wider management teams within service activities associated with Typhoon aircraft programmes at King Fahad Air Force Base (KFdAB).
The role ensures that integration of the Service is maintained across the multi-functional teams with regards to both delivery and support practices through tactical management of critical issues that either impact upon contractual performance or have the potential to cause an impact if not addressed.
The job holder will support the Head of Business Operations and the Head of Supply with metrication of improvement measure effectiveness on the KFdAB, this will include performance against contracted assumptions, cost control, arising rate suppression and resource management.
The role holder will work across all elements of the Service to resolve issues affection aircraft availability and contract performance so will need to fully understand the requirements of the project, business and Customer to ensure that the SSS Annex B statement of work can be executed without risk to RSAF force priorities or business performance whilst driving continuous improvement with regards to organisational size, shape and scope.
In addition, the role holder will support the management and claiming of the Key Performance Measures (KPM) of the Contract to ensure that appropriate support and challenge is applied to the process, thus ensuring the targets set within the IBP are achieved to the maximum extent.
JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Supporting the Head of Business Operations in implementing transition plans to embed cost control measures whilst maintaining required output performance in line with the IBP.
• Be responsible for ensuring that contractual performance, principally through the KPMs, is achieved and claimed in line with the conditions included within the Contract and that these are in line with the IBP – value is circa 25M+ GBP per month.
• Taking a project phase life cycle and trend early warning signs in delivery that are demonstrable, documented and clearly understood by all stakeholders to inform learning in follow on phases.
• Identify natural risk points with regards to capabilities within teams to allow the results to mapped across business deliverables, quantify the risk in a timely manner to allow for an effective mitigation strategy.
• Focussing project management activities to ensure the Service meets delivery and quality standards in accordance with Customer requirements as well as meeting schedule expectations in an effective manner to both meet the requirements of the Customer and the IBP.
• Assess and manage elements of Taif based resources to offer solutions which satisfy Customer requirements and inform the business decision making process on any issues which may exist.
• Ensure that an integrated approach is maintained across the project management team delivery covering product, service, environmental safety and SHE which meets the BAE Systems Saudi Arabia Safety Policy and assuring that it is deployed across the Salam programme within KFdAB.
• Ensuring that the relevant elements of the Project Management governance system requirements are flowed down into Supplier Organisations and that appropriate Assurance monitoring systems are implemented.
• Ensuring that the Salam project management capability, including people, tools and facilities deployed across the programme, is suitable to meet the business needs.
RECRUITMENT SPECIFICATION
Essential
• A degree or equivalent in a related field
• Extensive aerospace and defence company/industry knowledge, supporting significant and diverse projects, with an understanding of all parts of the business lifecycle especially service support
• Good working knowledge of the BAE SYSTEMS Operational Framework, Life Cycle Management, Project Management, Quality Management, Safety Management, managing sub-contractors, procurement, supplier selection and approval.
• Thorough understanding of the application of Life Cycle Management in order to develop the appropriate management strategies across the Salam project and its associated solutions
• Understanding of the IBP and financial processes, management processes, HR processes, BAES and MoD commercial processes.
• Significant knowledge and network base across the organisation and the wider UK Company organisation
• Proven business acumen for objective decision-making regarding resources, risk management, and forward strategy
• Proven experience working in multi-national project environments ideally including a period working abroad.
• Experience of working on MoD Contracts including customer stakeholder management.
• Experience of the development and application of process, organisational design, functional governance, assurance and its successful deployment.
• Track record of managing a number of projects successfully and acknowledged accomplishment
• Extensive experience of aerospace Prime Contracting, ideally in a KSA environment, and supporting Systems activities through the complete lifecycle
• Experience of operating in a highly regulated and highly scrutinised area that has significant impact on an organisation’s reputation.
• Experience and knowledge of the LCM process
• Leadership, delegation and team building skills for the effective people management of large and complex programmes
