Job Description
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist skilled tradespeople with residential construction and renovation projects.
- Load, unload, move, and organize construction materials, tools, and equipment.
- Prepare and clean construction work areas before, during, and after work.
- Assist carpenters with measuring, cutting, assembling, and installing construction materials.
- Assist with drywall installation, taping, sanding, and finishing activities.
- Assist painters with surface preparation, masking, sanding, and cleanup.
- Assist with demolition and removal of existing building materials as directed.
- Carry and position lumber, drywall, flooring, doors, cabinets, and other construction materials.
- Operate basic hand and power tools under appropriate supervision.
- Assist with installation and removal of temporary supports, barriers, and site protection.
- Help maintain proper organization and cleanliness of tools, materials, and work areas.
- Follow instructions from the Site Supervisor, Project Manager, and skilled tradespeople.
- Assist with general residential construction tasks as required.
- Identify and report damaged materials, unsafe conditions, or site issues to the supervisor.
- Follow all workplace health and safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment.
- Help maintain a clean, safe, and organized construction site.
- Perform other general construction support duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
- Previous construction experience is an asset but may not be required.
- Basic knowledge of construction tools, materials, and procedures.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
- Good physical ability to lift, carry, and move construction materials.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors and in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to work on ladders or elevated work areas when required.
- Reliable, punctual, and willing to learn new construction skills.
- Strong attention to workplace safety.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
