Salary: Up to £63,000 (DOE), with up to 10% annual performance bonus

The Role

The Area Manager is responsible for supporting, improving, and sustaining high-quality early years provision across the kinderzimmer UK nursery portfolio.

The role works flexibly across multiple nurseries, providing leadership cover, quality improvement support, and operational oversight where required. This includes supporting nurseries during periods of change, preparing settings for Ofsted, embedding consistent standards, and ensuring strong people and operational performance.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and operational oversight across a portfolio of nurseries, supporting Nursery Managers to deliver outstanding outcomes.
  • Coach, develop and challenge teams, supporting recruitment, onboarding and succession planning.
  • Drive high-quality early years practice in line with EYFS and prepare nurseries for Ofsted inspections.
  • Ensure safeguarding, compliance and health & safety standards are consistently met.
  • Monitor performance, including occupancy, staffing and KPIs, using data to drive improvements.
  • Support budget management, team deployment and overall operational efficiency.
  • Act as an escalation point for incidents, complaints and safeguarding concerns.
  • Build strong relationships with parents, teams and external stakeholders.
  • Lead on continuous improvement, supporting new openings, transitions and change projects.

About You

We’re looking for a confident and inspiring leader who is passionate about delivering exceptional early years education and supporting teams to thrive.

You will bring:

  • A Level 3 (or above) Early Years qualification
  • Strong leadership experience within early years across multiple settings
  • A solid understanding of EYFS, safeguarding and Ofsted expectations
  • A proven ability to drive quality, performance and continuous improvement
  • The confidence to coach, influence and develop high-performing teams
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Flexibility to travel across our nursery portfolio
  • Experience supporting nurseries through Ofsted inspections
  • A background in a growing or multi-site nursery group
  • Strong operational and commercial awareness
