About the OPPORTUNITY

We have an excellent opportunity for a Communications Systems Engineer to join our team within HCFP based in Melbourne.

In this role, you will be required to travel (few times a year) to different HCFP and OEM Offices in Sydney, Brisbane and Adelaide.

The Communications Systems Engineer works with suppliers / Government Furnished Assets OEM to define and agree the solutions for individual subsystems within the overall Hunter communications system, including the design of the installation on the ship.

More specifically, you will:

  • Participate in and support other areas of the Combat Systems Integrated Product Team
  • Review documents from suppliers and incorporate that into our design
  • Work with suppliers to guide solutions and to define interfaces to the ship and other subsystems.
  • Maintain functional and physical data in the Hunter Integrated Architecture Framework.
  • Coordinate engineering inputs for development of the Land Based Test Site technical solution.
  • Be the subject matter expert for individual subsystems.

About YOU

  • Proven background in System Engineering, Integration, Test and V&V.
  • Background in Military Communications, RAN or RN communications, voice / data / network / radio products is desirable.
  • Membership with Engineers Australia (MIEAust) – Professional Engineer, or eligibility to obtain
  • Knowledge of appropriate engineering development methodologies, strategies.
  • Experience of supplier technical management / liaison.
  • Good understanding of the engineering processes and tools used on the Hunter Class Frigate project (DOORS, System Architect, Windchill).
  • Defence security clearance or eligibility to obtain.
  • Eligibility to be cleared for International Traffic In Arms (ITAR) regulations.
