Engineering Logistics Portal Team Leader

JOB PURPOSE
BAE Systems is the UK Government’s nominated Prime Contractor under the Government-to-Government arrangements that are in place to provide equipment, support and training to Saudi Arabia. We provide maintenance of Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) aircraft and train RSAF and Royal Saudi Naval Force personnel safely in a training environment in how to use their aircraft, equipment and weapons.

The leadership and management of repairables & consumables with regards to optimising the operational supply inventory through the Engineering Logistics Portal (ELP).
JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES
Generic Areas of Responsibility
Performance indicators – Ensure all engineering paperwork is completely correctly for both outbound and inbound shipments. Ensuring assets are packed appropriately and in accordance with maintenance standards. Reporting all faults to appropriate parties including SC, BAESSA Tech Ops and UK where necessary.
Completion of activities – Be the BAESYSTEM AI lead on identifying repeat faults, trends and or changes to processes which may impact the operational fleet either positively or negatively. Explore changes to MPOL / capability which could improve overall availability of assets by increasing In Kingdom capability (either 2nd line or through Industrialisation). Challenge operating procedures / processes with user community to improve effectiveness and efficiencies. Liaise with appropriate bodies to understand the root causes of failures and identify potential solutions.
Procedure/standards – lead and operate the ELP in accordance with Supply Chain Management Plan.
Safety Management System – Lead the application of Human Factors, Error Management, Risk Management and Safety Assurance within Physical Logistics, together with the proactive analysis, mitigation and management of Hazards.
Management System Assurance – Ensure all ELP activities are compliant with the BAESYSTEM AI Governance and Assurance framework. Ensure Process Confirmations and independent assurance audits are supported by ELP personnel. Manage audit findings in a timely and appropriate manner and provide information into the relevant reviews. Generate, deliver and implement effective improvements to overcome any non-compliance and monitor effectiveness.
Statutory / Regulatory & Legislative requirements – Able to demonstrate a detailed understanding and application of the relevant Continuing Airworthiness Regulatory framework and ensure any Regulatory-driven changes are implemented. Lead Physical Logistics compliance with all other requirements, e.g. ITAR, EaPW, ISO, etc.
Contractual Requirements – Lead compliance with all applicable contractual requirements, e.g. through support to contract reviews, and ensure communication and implementation of any changes into Physical Logistics activities, as appropriate.
Specific Areas of Responsibility to Capability
Ensure all associated work is carried out in accordance with BAESYSTEM AI policy and has a good working knowledge of the Competency Framework.
Ensure the direction and objectives of the team align with the overall Supply Chain service.
Provide leadership and direction to the ELP team to deliver agreed deliverables. Influence on direction also extends to customers, service providers and partnerships.
Performance management and flow down of objectives to the Physical Logistics teams to ensure targets are met.
Provide support in all contracts and Supply Chain sourcing decisions to ensure that the decisions meet the strategic direction for the Supply Chain and business requirements.
Ensure that departmental plans and appropriate policy and procedure are in place and fully implemented to meet departmental objectives.
Deliver/input appropriate monthly Physical Logistics data/reports to senior management reviews and manage any actions.
Manage and maintain effective working relationships with all Supply Chain stakeholders and the wider maintenance organisation to ensure collaboration between the areas to meet business needs.
Support the improvement and development of the end-to-end Supply Chain, ensuring that activities are synchronised with (e.g. industry, forward and depth).
Effective management of project risks and opportunities.
Ensure the infrastructure, facilities and resources are available to the ELP teams to deliver the contract.
Responsible for the development and deployment of ELP IT infrastructure and data configuration.
Promote the generation, implementation and sharing of best practice across the wider BAESYSTEM AI & BAESSA community to support a Total Performance environment.
Be BAESYSTEM AIs representative on all Reliability activities including meetings & workshops.
Act as the conduit between BAESYSTEM AI and BAESSA sharing detail around faults found by vendor and identifying and reporting reoccurrences of / repeat faults and any maintenance or operator induced faults with a view to informing review of maintenance / operator processes and procedures.
RECRUITMENT SPECIFICATION
Essential
Graduate of a service or civilian technical training institute, or the Saudi National Technician Training Programme (SNTTP); or have completed a recognised apprenticeship and worked for a substantial time in an aircraft servicing environment, with recent managerial experience.
Have current knowledge and experience associated with aircraft maintenance, quality assurance, logistical support, and repairable asset management.
Able to demonstrate problem solving abilities; and set and manage work direction in an ever-changing environment, which must be done in a safe and effective manner to ensure procedural compliance without compromise to the aircraft airworthiness.
Computer literacy is essential, with a comprehensive working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite, GOLDesp and TrilogiView systems.
A current driving licence is a pre-requisite of the job.
Requires knowledge of Aircraft Maintenance operations and Repair Bay capabilities. An understanding of fault analysis and root cause analysis.
Will be able to demonstrate experience in aircraft maintenance and engineering and hold extensive experience of managerial roles in an aircraft maintenance environment.
Must be trained in aircraft engineering or a related technical discipline at a civilian or military school of technical training or have completed an appropriate engineering apprenticeship. Ideally to include working for consecutive years in an aircraft maintenance and servicing environment.
Must be a quality minded, mature, individual that adopts a diplomatic, positive and proactive approach to aircraft maintenance and support issues.
Must be forward thinking and able to drive continuous improvement, always seeking to ensure the maintenance areas are operating at peak performance.
Will have a practical approach to problem solving with an ability to gather information and convert it to practical solutions.
Has and maintains relationships throughout the other Supply Chain disciplines (E.g. Demand Management and IF&P). These relationships also extend to customer, partner & supplier organisations.
Requires an understanding of how BAESYSTEM AI operates and how the role fits within this. The ability to set direction and manage change accordance to internal and external factors.
Understands how to capture requirements and interpret these to set realistic plans and targets and can manage change to these plans and targets.
PM skills across LCM, planning, risk and opportunity management, communications,
Leadership and management skills are required to manage and integrate the various teams within the Supply Chain. Experience in managing/leading others is normally required.
