Job Title: Principal Engineer – Systems Engineering (Infrastructure)

Salary: £47,271+ depending on skills and experience

What you’ll be doing :

  • Work in partnership with SH to develop new arrangements and improve existing processes and ways of working
  • Support the effective implementation of new and revised arrangements and processes across the organisation
  • Contribute to the planning and delivery of implementation activity to ensure changes are embedded successfully
  • Develop and deliver training sessions, briefings, and guidance to support understanding and compliance
  • Deliver clear and engaging educational briefings tailored to different audiences
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across multiple functional areas to ensure a consistent and joined-up approach
  • Build effective working relationships with key stakeholders to support communication and shared objectives
  • Help identify opportunities for continuous improvement and share best practice

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • Qualified in a STEM discipline at degree level
  • Proven experience in Quality or Assurance roles within engineering or technical environments
  • Good understanding of Systems Engineering principles and practices
  • Experience in stakeholder management, building relationships and communicating effectively across functional areas
  • Experience in developing, documenting, and improving processes; ability to write clear, practical process documentation
  • Knowledge of management systems and their application in a professional environment
  • Experience working in a highly regulated industry and understanding compliance requirements
  • Awareness of engineering practices and terminology, particularly in site or systems engineering contexts

Desirable:

  • Experience with requirements management applications
  • Experience in process improvement or business management engineering within an engineering setting

The team:

The team operates within functional governance, focusing on the development and management of processes and arrangements that support site engineering and systems engineering activities. Acting as a key point of contact for requirements management and internal SH management, the team works collaboratively across multiple functional areas to ensure consistent, efficient, and compliant operations. They play a vital role in process development, business management engineering, and implementing management systems within a highly regulated environment, supporting continuous improvement and the delivery of high-quality engineering outcomes. We offer relocation support packages across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
