Role: Associate Exam Invigilator

Location: Shuttleworth College – Old Warden

Salary/Benefits: Salary is £13.20 per hour

Hours/Weeks: Various hours per week

Contract Type: Sessional – Hourly Paid

About the role:

We are currently seeking an Associate Exam Invigilator to join our Examinations department at The Bedford College Group.

As an Invigilator, you play an important role in the success of our students through:

  • Examination Delivery & Compliance – Conduct examinations in strict accordance with Awarding Body, JCQ and College regulations, ensuring exams start and finish on time and procedures are followed precisely.
  • Security & Confidentiality – Maintain the security and confidentiality of examination materials, scripts and candidate information before, during and after examinations at all times.
  • Exam Room Preparation & Supervision – Prepare examination rooms, seating plans and displays, issue papers or manage online exams, verify candidate ID, maintain registers and actively supervise to prevent malpractice.
  • Candidate Support & Access Arrangements – Implement approved access arrangements, provide clear instructions and announcements, and support candidates professionally throughout the examination process.
  • Professional & Statutory Responsibilities – Complete required documentation, remain up to date with invigilation regulations, participate in training, and uphold safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion, and health & safety duties.

About you:

  • Qualifications & Core Skills – GCSE English and maths (or equivalent) or willingness to achieve Level 2 Literacy and Numeracy, with confident use of Microsoft applications including Excel and Teams.
  • Customer Service & Student Experience – Proven experience in customer‑focused roles, delivering excellent service and consistently creating a welcoming, high‑quality experience for students and customers.
  • Communication & Teamworking – Clear and confident face‑to‑face communicator, with experience working collaboratively within a team while valuing and respecting colleagues’ contributions.
  • Organisation & Professional Performance – Strong organisational skills, ability to meet deadlines, work to set procedures and regulations, use initiative, and demonstrate high performance in previous roles.
  • Flexibility & Mobility – Flexible approach to working patterns with the ability to travel to alternative sites as required.
