Job Title: Principal Material Controller

Location: Barrow-in-Furness. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

Salary: From £42,215 depending on skills and experience

What you’ll be doing:

  • Producing and updating KPI‘s & reports to support decision making
  • Investigating & resolving material readiness issues by identifying causes and coordinating fixes
  • Collating and analysing data to highlight trends and risks
  • Collaborating closely with supplier (MoD) regarding inventory management
  • Representing supply chain function at meetings and provide material status updates
  • Developing and training colleagues in specific areas of GFE (Government furnished equipment)
  • Promoting and complying with SHE, security and training policies

Your skills and experiences:

  • Proven background in material control and inventory management
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, with solid capability in Excel
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Project management experience
  • Proven experience training and mentoring others

The GFE (Government Furnished Equipment) team:

Join a specialist team delivering a unique MoD contract. You’ll have the exciting opportunity to collaborate across the full range of submarine programmes, and gain exposure to a wide range of equipment and activities. This role offers hands‑on experience, varied inventory management responsibilities, and the chance to contribute to work with real national impact. We offer relocation support packages across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
