Job Title: Project Engineering Manager – Underwater Battlespace

Salary: Up to £,70,000 dependent on skills and experience

What you’ll be doing:

  • Leading and managing the delivery of complex engineering projects across the Torpedo Support arena, ensuring they meet customer and contractual requirements for cost, quality, and schedule
  • Coordinating and integrating multi-disciplinary engineering teams, providing leadership across all stages of development
  • Overseeing the design, development, and delivery of new products and complex system upgrades, working with internal teams, external partners, and suppliers
  • Resolving technical challenges and driving effective solutions across systems, disciplines, and stakeholders
  • Tailoring and applying engineering processes to deliver innovative and creative solutions that meet evolving customer needs
  • Managing resources and activities across multiple workstreams to successfully deliver high-value engineering programmes

Your skills and experiences:

  • Proven experience leading the delivery of complex engineering programmes, ideally within the naval maritime sector but knowledge from other sectors such as rail, nuclear or automotive will be considered
  • Proven background as an engineering lead, with a track record of successfully managing and delivering large-scale, complex technical solutions within multi-disciplinary environments
  • Detailed understanding of engineering planning, maturity, and the full engineering lifecycle
  • Solid knowledge of project management principles, with the ability to balance technical delivery with cost, quality, and schedule commitments
  • Holds a Bachelors Degree in Engineering or a relevant STEM subject, and is professionally registered as a Chartered Engineer (CEng) or equivalent, or has the competence to achieve this in the short term

Torpedo Support Team:

This role sits within the Torpedo Support area of Under Water Battlespace and Autonomy with BAE Systems Maritime and Land. Reporting to the Torpedo Support PM Lead this role requires the management of two distinct projects one within a matrix team setup drawing support from the wider Torpedo Support function to realise the required deliverables and a secondary team directly reporting into this role requiring the management of a range of engineering disciplines delivering a proof of concept programme. In addition to the management and delivery of the teams these projects need to be taken through lifecycle management processes ensuring the correct governance is applied. Acumen is required to be able to work in a complex stakeholder environment where there is a need to bring a number of both internal and external sponsors and resources together to achieve the project aims.
