About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled Communication Support Worker (CSW) to support Deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals in accessing services, participating in events, and communicating effectively. You will facilitate communication, provide practical support, and ensure full inclusion across a range of settings.
Key Responsibilities:
Facilitate communication between Deaf and hearing individuals using BSL or other agreed methods.
Support clients in appointments, meetings, workshops, and social events.
Assist with access to public services, healthcare, education, and workplaces.
Provide guidance on communication tools and technologies (e.g., video relay, captioning).
Maintain confidentiality and act with professionalism and cultural sensitivity.
Occasionally assist with administrative tasks, note-taking, or document support.
Requirements:
Proficiency in British Sign Language (BSL) – minimum Level 3 required
Experience working with Deaf or hard-of-hearing individuals.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Understanding of confidentiality, safeguarding, and professional ethics.
