Job Description Foster Carer; Location: From Home, Reports To: Supervising Social Worker
Job Overview:
Foster carers offer children and young people a loving, stable and nurturing home while they cannot live with their own families. Being a foster carer is about caring and advocating for children, being someone that they can trust and talk to, and who will celebrate their achievements with them.
As well as providing day-to-day care for children and young people, foster carers will work with other professionals to support their educational, health and social wellbeing. This involves attending meetings and advocating for the children in the care. They will also keep records, manage sometimes challenging behaviour, and develop their own skills through training and experience.
Sure Start is a growing fostering agency based in East London, dedicated to improving the life experiences of children and young people in care. The agency specialises in recruiting foster carers from diverse cultural, religious, and ethnic backgrounds, and supports them in developing their skills and knowledge to provide a nurturing environment, where children and young people can overcome adversity and experience a happy childhood.
Sure Start works in partnership with local authorities across London and neighbouring counties to ensure that children and young people have a comprehensive support plan to achieve the best possible outcomes. To effectively make a difference in the lives of children and young people, Sure Start provides tailored fostering services to their specific needs, ensuring they receive a high standard of support to reach their full potential.
A key aspect of successfully supporting children and young people is the robust support package offered to foster carers. This includes comprehensive training, ongoing professional development, and support and guidance whenever needed. In addition to the personal rewards associated with their invaluable contributions to the lives of children and young people, foster carers also receive competitive fostering allowances that reflect the high commitment and quality of care provided.
