This role combines the responsibilities of internal auditing-focused on risk management, compliance, and operational efficiency-with financial planning and analysis (FP&A), which involves budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis.
Day to day you will be responsible for: - Lead the development of the annual budget, including revenue, expense, and capital expenditure projections.
- Work closely with department heads to ensure accurate and realistic budget submissions.
- Monitor and analyse actual performance against the budget, providing insights into variances.
- Develop and maintain financial models to forecast future business performance under various scenarios.
- Develop and execute audit plans to evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls, risk management, and governance processes.
- Conduct audits of financial and operational processes to ensure compliance with policies, regulations, and best practices.
- Oversee the preparation and accuracy of the annual financial statements in accordance with UK GAAP, manage the statutory accounts preparation and liaise with external auditors.
- Analyse processes and financial records to identify inefficiencies, control weaknesses, and areas of non-compliance.
- Support risk management activities by identifying potential risks and advising on mitigation strategies.
- Support mergers, acquisitions and other strategic initiatives by providing financial analysis and due diligence.
- Identifying opportunities to improve financial processes and systems, driving efficiency, accuracy, and transparency.
Our ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate: - Qualified accountant with ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent UK accounting certification.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in auditing, accounting, financial control and financial planning and analysis.
- Extensive knowledge of GAAP/IFRS, financial reporting, and internal controls.
- Proficiency in financial modelling, forecasting, and data analysis tools.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial software (e.g., SAP, Sage, Dynamics).
We work hybrid from our office in Salford Quays Monday to Wednesday.
