Following the Taster Day, Place2Be's Introduction to Child Counselling Skills (Level 2 Award) is our entry-level course. This course will introduce you to counselling theories and techniques used by our mental health professionals in schools. Place2Be’s vision is for all children to have the vital support they need to help them build life long coping skills and to thrive. For 30 years, Place2Be have provided mental health services in schools, guided by their mission, vision, values and approach. Our Mental Health workforce team mission is to build the size and diversity of the children’s mental health workforce to move us towards our organisational vision. Place2Be have been running child counselling training programmes for over 25 years and are pioneers in the field. In this time, 256 people have graduated with Place2Be as qualified counsellors. We deliver accredited courses from introduction to counselling all the way to qualifying, with additional qualifications for qualified counsellors too. In 2023 we had 420 students join all our counselling courses. On average, Place2Be train over 200 students each academic year on our Introduction to Child Counselling Skills (Level 2 Award) course, building key skills for working with children and young people. Motivated to diversify the child counselling workforce, Place2Be launched a Bursary Pathway in 2024 for those facing financial barriers when applying for counselling qualifications.
