Job Description

Job Title: Ward Round Clerk

Location: Moorside Unit, Moorside Road, Urmston, Manchester M41 5SL

Hours: Part Time 18 Hours PW (Temporary)

What you’ll be responsible for:

· Undertake audio and clerical duties for your consultants, including minute taking as required, clinical letters, reports, discharge correspondence and clinical activity data inputting. This may include administrative support relating to consultant tutorial work.

· Provide first point of contact for written and telephone enquiries on behalf of your consultants, using judgement to establish validity and priority of the contact.

· Deal with any admission enquiries using judgement and observing patient confidentiality at all times.

· To support the medical team in providing a comprehensive administrative service to the medical teams within the Trafford Directorate.

· The post holder will primarily support with note taking in the ward rounds as well as undertake general office duties including the typing of medical and other correspondence, actioning any requirements identified within the typing. They will answer and manage calls from patients and their carers / relatives and other health and social care professionals.

· Ensure all discharge summaries are allocated and completed within agreed process and timeframe.

· Check the patient’s status, check follow up appointments etc. have been booked when mentioned in correspondence / discharge correspondence using the EPR systems. Ensure demographic details are correct and amend where necessary.

You’ll learn the following whilst working at the trust:

1. An in depth understanding of the roles and responsibilities involved in working within the NHS

2. Knowledge of the systems used, to effectively complete your role to the highest standard at all times

3. A sense of teamwork, gained through working alongside and supporting colleagues from all levels, within the organisation

You’ll have the following skills/experience:

· Ability to understand and summarise complex information.

· Computer literate with excellent standard of keyboard skills

· Experience of note/minute taking.

· Transcribing clinical dictations.

· Previous NHS experience.

· Good typing skills.
