Job Type: Full Time, Permanent

Location: London, UK

Shift Schedule: As required by the agreed contract. This role may require you to work Sunday to Thursday or Monday to Friday (days or nights with some weekend works).

Main Purpose of the role:

We are seeking PWTs to join our London Underground (LU) Operations Team to assist in smooth running of LU networks, managing a team or multiple teams of staff/sub-contract staff undertaking various complexities of track maintenance or renewal works for TDU.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

As a PWT you will:

  • Have responsibility of the work group and deliver a number of works as per the client’s programme and methodology.
  • Ensure your work group follow the correct procedures for protecting workers on track.
  • Be responsible for shift reporting for your work group activities on all aspects of the programme process for that shift and ensure that all applicable safety requirements are applied to all works carried out when carrying out Protection duties and or directing the operatives within your work group, and updating the client via shift reports using the company PDA/iPad.
  • Cascade safety information (Toolbox Talks etc.) out to your team (s) working within your work site.
  • Ensure that the works undertaken by your work groups are in line with all site documentation such as working instructions, method statements, and company and line standards.
  • Hold/attend briefings and brief safety communications to a work group.
  • Liaise with clients and attend briefings with the client.
  • Cascade company policies and procedures and ensure compliance.
  • Provide protection and a safe system of work for staff working on or about the railway infrastructure.

Requirement and Essential Qualifications:

  • Experience in managing a team of people delivering railway maintenance  and renewals work within the LUL/TFL infrastructure.
  • Good understanding  of LUL/TFL processes, standards, procedures and instructions.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication (verbal, written and listening) skills, that will support the delivery of your duties and able to clearly explain tasks and inspire others with varying backgrounds.
  • Relevant PWT licencing.
  • Site Person in Charge (SPC) licensing.
  • Manual Handling.
  • Worksite Safety Induction (WSI).
  • Small Tools.
  • LU Medical.
  • Basic Track Awareness (BTA).
