JOB PURPOSE
BAE Systems is the UK Government’s nominated Prime Contractor (PC) under the Government-to-Government arrangements that are in place to provide equipment, support and training to Saudi Arabia. We provide maintenance of Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) aircraft and train RSAF personnel safely in a training environment in how to use their aircraft, equipment and weapons.
As the Superintendent Type II, you will be responsible for the calibration production control of the Secondary Calibration Squadron, Khamis Mushayt, functioning as the focal point for the overall operation and performance and provide Metrology advice and technical solutions to the Customer (RSAF).
For more than 30 years. The Metrology and Calibration Wing (MetCal Wing) has been supporting the Royal Saudi Air Force in maintaining the safe and effective operation of its aircraft and weapon systems by ensuring that all associated Test Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE) meets its performance specifications. This is achieved by regular quality controlled calibrations against measurement standards which have calibration results that are traceable in an unbroken chain to the International System of Units.
The role will provide you with a great opportunity to work with a multinational work force of highly trained metrology professionals in an evolving calibration organization.
Essential
Be educated to at least, Higher National Certificate level or equivalent in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications, or other appropriate qualifications agreed with the MetCal Wing Commander.
Have successfully completed formal training directed towards the calibration, repair and alignment of electronic, radio frequency and microwave systems, including associated measuring equipment (analogue and digital) and a background knowledge of Physical Dimensional calibration. Gained at least five years practical experience involved in the calibration and repair of Test Measurement Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE) and RSAF specific TMDE used in the support of military aircraft systems, plus an additional two years of team leader skills at Supervisory level. Must be fully conversant with the requirements of RSAF QM 4-7702 (RSAF Metrology Program) and be familiar with the contents of RSAF Manual 105-8 (Training), RSAF Manual 67-1 (Supply) and RSAF Manual 78-series (Safety).
Desirable
Incumbent requires experienced managerial and engineering judgment, creativity, initiative and leadership skills including a practical knowledge of metrology.
An ability to communicate with high level RSAF and BAE Systems personnel both orally and in writing using proper tact, protocol and diplomacy, and to draft technical procedures, reports and staff evaluations as directed. Must possess a high standard of personal integrity and fully committed to working to a high standard of ethical behaviour.
Performance in this post requires you to be computer literate and an experienced user of the Microsoft Office suite of programs (Word, excel, PowerPoint, Access).
Selection of the Jobholder is to be, preferably to those that meet the above requirements, has experience within a commercial aviation security environment.
Job Accountabilities
Provide Metrology measurement, technical, logistical and strategic support to the Calibration Squadron Commander in the management of the Calibration Laboratory ensuring that operations are performed in accordance with RSAF QM 4-7702, and other appropriate RSAF directives.
Perform laboratory and department administration and management of resources and staff under your control to ensure the timely and efficient accomplishment of the task in accordance with established procedures.
Review the resources, procedures and processes to develop capability, maximise performance and ensure timely customer support. Use statistics to analyse key performance indicators (KPI) for production output and turnaround time of calibration/production processes.
Actively recommend Metrology improvements to the Calibration Squadron Commander. Liaise and communicate, with RSAF Officers and Contractor personnel on calibration, lateral support requirements and collaborating with MetCal Engineering and Primary Calibration Squadron to determine capability requirements for the Secondary Calibration Squadron, KKAB.
Motivate and encourage staff to achieve high levels of performance and quality and to develop personal skills and job knowledge.
Attend and actively participate in meetings, or other activities as deemed necessary by the Calibration Squadron Commander to help promote a better understanding of Metrology within the Royal Saudi Air Force.

In this role, you will be expected to be proactive in planning resources to match future tasks, excellent organisational skills, show initiative and establish successful working relationships with the RSAF.
